Since 2016, but Sam has worked in the painting industry for more than 20 years.
Yes, we also offer carpentry services, including trim replacement; custom shelving and cabinetry; drywall installation and finishing; and all flooring types, excluding carpet.
Absolutely. That happens all the time. Typically, we work a standard 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule, so most people are working when we are working. Homeowners do not have to be present, but they are welcome to be.
Sam the Painter can provide as many references as you’d like. We typically provide three references upon request.
Yes, we can provide those.
Yes, a five-year painting warranty — three years above industry standards.
No. Our first two estimates are free.
We suggest you go to a local retail painting store, where there are hundreds of options to choose from and color specialists to help you. Sherwin-Williams also offers a free online color service. Of course, we are always willing to give suggestions.
Interior painting can be completed at any time. With exterior painting, you typically have a nine-month window in central Ohio from March to November. Exterior painting is always dependent on temperatures. It is OK to paint as long as it’s above 45 degrees.
Every project is individualized and specific to itself. Sam will come to your home and look at it personally to determine the work that needs to be performed and the pricing.
Typically, that is project-specific depending on the weather for exterior painting and the scope of work. Upon sending a quote, we will give you an estimated time of completion. Average exterior painting work typically takes three to six days. Depending on the size of the job, work could take one day to one month.

You ask the painting contractor to see their license to contract work, their proof of insurance COI (certificate of insurance) and GC (General Contactor) registration card. Local painting contractors only need to be insured and are not required to carry a general contractor license — although Sam the Painter does.
Inviting a painting crew onto your property raises an important question: what happens to everything around the work area? From landscaping and furniture to fixtures and walkways, your home’s surroundings are just as valuable as the surfaces being painted. A professional painting company understands that safeguarding your personal property is a critical part of the job.
At Sam The Painter, protecting your home and everything around it is built into every phase of our process. Here’s what that looks like in practice.
Before any project begins, a detailed site assessment is completed. This allows the crew to identify surfaces, obstacles, and items that need to be protected or temporarily relocated.
Outdoor furniture, grills, décor, and movable items are carefully repositioned away from the work zone. For items that cannot be moved, such as built-in features or heavy fixtures, protective masking is put in place to ensure they remain clean and undamaged.
This initial preparation stage sets the tone for the entire project, minimizing risk before painting even begins.
Not all coverings are created equal. A professional painter uses purpose-built materials designed specifically for paint protection, rather than makeshift solutions that can shift, tear, or allow seepage.
Drop cloths, plastic sheeting, and masking materials are strategically placed to shield surfaces such as:
These materials are secured to prevent movement from wind or foot traffic, ensuring consistent coverage throughout the project.
Precision Masking for Clean Edges
Masking is also a key part of protecting nearby surfaces. Areas that are not meant to be painted are carefully taped and sealed off to prevent overspray, drips, or accidental contact.
This includes everything from window glass and brickwork to rooflines and decorative elements. Proper masking ensures that paint goes exactly where it should and nowhere else.
Clean-Up That Leaves No Trace
Once the painting is complete, the job isn’t finished until the site is fully restored. All protective materials are carefully removed, and the surrounding area is inspected for any stray debris or residue.
Furniture and items that were moved are returned to their original positions, and the property is left clean, organized, and ready to enjoy.
